The FOODcents 10-plan shopping guide shows how to spend your food budget on a balanced diet.

Spend your food money in the same way you balance the foods in your diet. We know that we should eat with the healthy diet pyramid, so it makes sense that we should spend with it too.

The pyramid can be applied to your food budget, to help you calculate how you are currently spending your food money compared with how you could be spending it to balance your diet and your budget.

Simply get a recent shopping docket, or collect all of your dockets over a week or two. Cross out everything that isn’t food, and enter the rest into the table on the following page.
